Intramural Basketball – 2007/2008 Season
Rules for High School (7th
through 12th) girls league
Duration of game: Four (4) ten (10) minute quarters of
running time. Time stops on every whistle in the final minute of
EACH half. If games are running long, the League has the authority
to shorten games.
Overtime Game: One three (3) minute session of running
time. Each team receives one time-out for the overtime session.
(Time-outs are not carried over from regulation.) If still tied
after OT, Sudden Victory immediately takes place with a jump ball.
First team to score wins.
Basketball size: 28.5 inches.
Defense: All defense(s) are allowed.
Full court press is not allowed if leading by 20 or more points.
Playing time: All players must play at least
half of each game.
It is in the spirit of St
Anthony’s CYO to give all players equal playing time.
Time: In backcourt-10 seconds to
bring ball over half-court.
In bounds- 5 seconds to bring
ball into play.
Between quarters- 1 minute.
Halftime- 2 minutes.
Time-outs: Three (3) per game. Please do not
use time-outs unless completely necessary.
Substitutions: Coaches MUST have substitutes
ready at scorers table.
Fast breaks: Fast breaking allowed unless
leading by 20 or more points.
Fouls:
Team: On the seventh (7) team foul of each half, the
opposing team will receive a “one and one” foul shot opportunity.
On the tenth (10) team foul the opposing team receives two foul
shots.
Personal:
If a player receives five (5) personal fouls, the player is
considered “fouled out” of the game. If there are no substitutions
available, the player may be allowed to play. However, on all
additional fouls by the fouled out player, the opposing team
receives two foul shots and possession.
Free throw distance: Regulation distance. (15 feet) Players
may enter lane on RELEASE of the ball from the shooter. Shooter and
any other player behind the foul line, may not cross the line until
ball contacts rim.
General rules: A Team must have minimum of four
(4) players to avoid a forfeit.
All coaches and
players must arrive 15 minutes before each game. In the event the
coach is responsible for opening the gym, the coach should arrive 30
minutes prior to the game to ensure the gym is setup for the game.
CYO Board will
determine appropriate disciplinary action in the unlikely event a
coach receives a Technical Foul.
If a player gets a
technical foul, he is ejected from the game. The player is also
automatically suspended from the next game. In referee’s judgment,
the player may also be ejected from the gym. CYO Board will
determine if any other disciplinary action is warranted.
Referees may eject a
coach from a game and/or facility.
Coaches who are
unable to control conduct of parents should IMMEDIATELY contact
their league coordinator.
Coaches will make
themselves aware of the responsibilities of the opening and closing
of gyms.
Immediately notify
your League Coordinator when a player is consistently missing games
and/or practices.
Only a coach and one
assistant coach are allowed to sit with the Players.
Only the coach is
allowed to talk to the referee.
